(Looking at you millennials 👀)With Matinée, you can have both. It’s a “night time” dance party that lets you have a wild night out…and be home by 11pm. The party starts at 5pm, peaks at 8, over at 10. Oh and we serve pizza around 7:30pm to give you a second wind. Some reviews from past Matinéers… “Omg y’all solved nightlife.”“This is the most fun I’ve ever had before 9pm.’“I feel way too young to be here” – Gen Z Hosted by a few of NYC’s funkiest disco & dance DJs, Matinée has been selling out one of New York’s most beloved discos with sets that past Matineers have called “an undeniable feel good sound” and “the best night of my life”. Here’s a mix and playlist to get you in the mood. The Matinée Mission Nightlife pretty much only caters to 20 somethings. Matinée wants to change that. Join and meet other singles for a "Date Walk" at one of New York City’s hottest and newest attractions – Little Island! Our 50 & Over social walks are an extremely popular way to make new friends and meet others in a safe and unique setting. This event is very casual and non-awkward + our host will help to make introductions. Enjoy a fun way to meet others while also getting some fresh air and some exercise while seeing the park. Little Island provides a one-of-a-kind relationship between nature and art—a break from urban life and a connection to spontaneity and joy. It's become NYC's newest and hottest attraction! We'll make several stops along the park so that people can take pictures and admire the beautiful views. We'll circle the island a couple of times and then afterwards, we'll continue the walk along the Hudson River. During the walk, you will randomly be paired with others in the beginning then rotate at designated times so that you get to meet everyone participating. Afterwards, you're welcome to hang out and exchange contact info with others. FAQs: Where to meet? Exact meeting location with host contact info will be sent to all paid attendees day of the event. How many will attend? We are limiting the # of attendees so that there's enough room for everyone to feel comfortable. What if rains? We will email attendees a new date. Can I come alone? Yes, about 90% come on their own. Ages? 50s & Over. Gender balance is not guaranteed but we usually get a good mix.

// about \\ 'The Feels', level 2 is aims to bring you into thoughtful connection with values-aligned singles; we do this 2 ways: we activate a psycho-spiritual theoretical approach as to what leads to compatability in order to pair you w others who are at a similar stage in their awareness journey; we guide you + those we've hand-chosen for you, thru an evening of thoughtful prompts, positive reflections + somatic elements like long-held hugs. On the selection process We've got an ever-evolving approach to matching; we believe that paths to compatability begin with inner work. so we focus on emotional intelligence, somatic awareness + spiritual attunement - and we match you with people in a similar spot in their journey. we also ask foundational questions, like what you're looking for, and how you want to be in relationship. we spend hours with the info provided, to ensure that we're giving you matches that feel reflective of the work you've both done, to be where you are. that being true: there will be time to connect to anyone in the group outside our 'assignments' via a wild card round, in case we miss anything ;) for this october installment, we're also trying new things as it relates to experience design: we're mixing up the opening, and the in-pair experience(s), to give you even more of a driver's seat. to that, while its not an explicit requirement - we highly recommend attending a level 1 prior. // the who \\ this edition of the 'feels' is for those who identify as ISO a monogamous(ish) + hetero pairing. per the above - we highly recommend - but do not require - that you attend a level 1 event before coming to level 2. this edition is for those who are between the ages of 25 - 55. !Event image !Event image // please note \\Tickets are non-refundable, and we no longer allow transfers to future events. For more information on the 'what' and the 'why', please visit our FAQ. If you have any questions about accessibility, please be sure to check out our FAQ before purchasing a ticket. We know this experience is not cheap. if helpful: professional matchmakers charge tens of thousands of dollars; we're attempting here to harness the power of a thousands-strong alumni community filled w values-aligned singles, and offer an opportunity to be in curated connection. we make no guarantees as it relates to the matches, but we can promise you'll spend an evening immersed in a toolkit for how we might better date + relate moving forward. Tickets close 36 - 72 hours prior to the event to give us time to do the pairings. // our partners \\ special thanks to !Event image

Join us for a night of connection and good vibes where the circle stays unbroken and the energy flows freely. Join Gaia as we craft 2 hours of continuous spontaneous song!! Inspired by Bobby McFerrin’s 24 hour Unbroken Circle, this event will be one shifting, morphing, everchanging, musical adventure. Our facilitator will spin their own world of songs, with moments of collaborative song-weaving and opportunities for participants to step into the circle as well. The central idea here is to keep the song spinning, no matter what. Let’s see how many places the song can take us! WHAT IS CIRCLESINGING? A spontaneous vocal jam, sung by all of us and led by a facilitator in the middle of the circle who invents parts, teaches improvised harmonies, and shapes the music as we flow from meditative moments to vibrant dance parties to heartfelt anthems and everything in between! Circle Singing is: -playful-creative-collaborative-joyful-imperfect-improvised-finding the flow-a full body exploration-welcoming to all ability levels Circle Singing is done all over the world in many different forms, and, while popularized by musical legends such as Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon of WeBe3, it dates back to the earliest forms of human singing. WHO IS LEADING THIS CIRCLESINGING SESSION? This session will be facilitated by Zahara, Matt, Sofia, and Simi Yuyu! Zahara (she/her) is a Grammy and Emmy nominated musician, educator, and arts entrepreneur. A versatile vocalist with roots in Kerala, India, she is known as a visionary who delivers on big dreams. Zahara is a seasoned recording and touring artist, composer, pianist, voice-over actor, public speaker, TV personality, and bonafide sari connoisseur. She is Founder/Director of the Grammy-nominated Berklee Indian Ensemble, a viral phenomenon with over 300 million views, renowned for its signature global Indian sound and world class productions. Before her Boston years, in 2003, she founded Artistes Unlimited (AU) in New Delhi, India, a performing arts collective promoting collaboration among city musicians. Today, Zahara takes this mission global through her internationally acclaimed a cappella quartet, Women of the World (singing in 37 languages); her songwriting duo, Tigs and Nettles; and "keeping it light" her podcast on self-love, acceptance, and healing. Zahara believes we build resilience through playfulness. Her workshops on improvised storytelling through sound, movement, and global vocal nuances help singers trust, love and better understand themselves and their voice. Matt Goldstein (he/him) is an award-winning arranger, facilitator, improviser, songwriter, and educator who is known for his emotive vocal arrangements, soulful singing, heart-forward facilitation, and visionary leadership. After making waves in the a cappella scene as music director of The Vassar Devils and Hyannis Sound, he went on to found Gaia Music Collective, a collaborative music community that is achieving international recognition for its work in creating kind, connective, accessible spaces for musical play and expression. Along with designing and leading Gaia’s viral “One-Day Choir” series, Matt is passionate about leading circle singing, facilitating improvised jams, and cultivating exciting new projects in the vocal music sphere. He currently serves as Gaia’s Artistic Director and Lead Facilitator, while also performing as an improviser and singer-songwriter, directing at A Cappella Academy (a summer camp for talented young singers), leading Rock Voices (a community pop-rock choir), and teaching vocal improv intensives through his private teaching studio, Flow Labs. Sofía Campoamor (she/her) first started writing songs to make school projects more fun. This lighthearted approach to academics led her to study music at Yale University, where she performed a cappella music around the world as the first woman member of the Whiffenpoofs. School gave way to a music career; in 2022, Sofía’s word game project #wordlesong gained popularity on Tiktok and generated several of the songs for her debut album "if you knew, i couldn't tell,” an indie folk collection that blends her love of intricate vocal harmony with dreamy acoustic soundscapes to tell tales of love, longing and friendship. When she’s not touring or recording, Sofía volunteers for the nonprofit Hear Your Song, leading collaborative songwriting sessions with children managing serious illness and complex health needs. She also enjoys teaching music to kids ages 5 to 80 and singing with the Oratory Choir of St. Boniface. Sofía is so grateful to call Gaia Music Collective her creative home, and loves co-creating with the community at every collaborative open mic, songwriting circle, and choir! Simi Yuyu (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, creating magic through experiences, design, and embodied practices. Her latest album, “P O T I O N S,” was celebrated as a best new album on NPR’s ‘All Songs Considered’ in 2021. She is passionate about the healing power of communal musicmaking. She studied vocal improvisation at Bobby Mcferrin’s Circlesong School, and seeks to empower others to reclaim their creativity and voices. She also teaches on the faculty of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Institute, offering connective music education to families in NYC. DO I HAVE TO BE AN EXPERIENCED SINGER? Nope! This playful, intuitive approach to singing meets you wherever you're at in your vocal journey, and allows professional artists, former choir kids, and shower singers alike to bond, collaborate, and create beautiful vocal music as a spontaneous vocal community. WHAT GENRE OF MUSIC DO WE SING? That's the magic of improvisation - the music we make is entirely dependent on the ensemble of folx gathered together on that particular day, and whatever musical stylings and instincts pour out of us! We will follow whatever journey the music takes us on. THIS SOUNDS COOL, BUT I FEEL A BIT ANXIOUS... We hear you. Singing in front of people can be really vulnerable, and we make sure to honor where everyone is at. While we will encourage you to be brave and try new things, you are also always encouraged to listen to your body and draw your own boundaries, and are invited to pass or sit out and watch if a particular game or exercise isn't for you. You will never be forced to do anything you don't want to do! Circle Singing is a mistake-free, low-pressure, safe space to play and explore. The space we craft is one where we allow ourselves let go of the rules, restrictions, judgments, and fears of other group singing settings and just SING. RESPECT THE SPACE: This is a beloved venue and we want to honor them! Please be considerate of the space. PHYSICAL ACCESSIBILITY: • This venue is not fully ADA compliant. If you need assistance, please contact us or speak with a facilitator or volunteer on site—we’ll do our best to accommodate. 🌱 🌿 🌳 RESPECT THE SPACE! This is a beloved venue and we want to honor them! Please be considerate of the space. LOW-PRESSURE PARTICIPATION Gaia Music Collective events are participatory, but low-pressure. You'll be invited to sing along and make music with us, but we encourage you to draw your own boundaries and engage at your own pace - we pride ourselves in creating a judgment-free community where you can express yourself however feels right! LATE ARRIVALS We ask that you arrive no later than 30 minutes after start time, after which we close the doors (lovingly) in order to preserve the intimacy and trust of the musical container we’re building. Thank you for understanding! CANCELLATION POLICY Tickets are refundable up to 24 hours before the event, after which we are no longer able to offer refunds. This policy helps us keep these events financially sustainable for both our community and our team. If you RSVP but are no longer able to come, please let us know so that we may offer your spot to someone else! We want as many people to be able to experience these gatherings as possible, and since capacity is limited, each spot is precious. For more info, contact us at gaiamusiccollective@gmail.com. MEDIA CONSENT Because we want to share what we’re up to with people who can’t join us in person, there may be photographers and videographers present — by attending, you consent to being a part of that media, some of which may be posted online! If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at gaiamusiccollective@gmail.com. NO ONE TURNED AWAY FOR LACK OF FUNDS Gaia is funded by sliding scale ticket donations, with a “no one turned away for lack of funds” policy. It is of the utmost importance to us that these events remain affordable and accessible - we never want money to be a barrier to making music together. If a ticket scale is financially prohibitive to you, feel free to donate outside of the scale at whatever amount is sustainable for you, or to email us at gaiamusiccollective@gmail.com for volunteer opportunities or assistance! COMMUNITY GUIDELINES At Gaia Music Collective, we are dedicated to building a community where creativity, collaboration, and care thrive. The values listed here shape how we work together, how we engage with the world, and how we move toward upholding these principles. OUR MISSION Gaia Music Collective is an NYC-based creative community seeking to foster a more connected world through collective music-making. Founded in June of 2021 in a living room in Brooklyn, this project was born out of a desire to create accessible, inclusive, playful spaces for people to explore connection, expression, healing, and release through collaborative song - spaces where folks feel empowered to make music free of judgment or expectation, and to make new friends as our full, beautiful, authentic selves. We believe that communal music-making is a fundamental human practice, and this project seeks to build spaces for folks to nurture their relationship to music, whether they're shower singers, professional musicians, or anything in between. All are welcome in this community: all ages, races, genders, sexual orientations, classes, religions, abilities, national origins, languages, and musical experiences. All we ask is that you bring an open mind, a desire to connect, and a willingness to leave judgment of self and others at the door. FAQ Have any questions that haven't been answered here?
